Photographer Grover Schrayer took a number of macro photos of just extinguished candles. He made an effort to shoot a rainbow that occurs in the smoke, along with other details which are usually not seen by human eye. Schrayer points out the difficulties of his method: "The hardest part was getting the camera to focus on just the right part of the smoke. I focused on the wick, or the edge of the flame, had the shutter button half-pressed and ready, and blew out the candle and snapped very quickly. ".
